Time for another episode of meta-movie, and in episode 138 after all these years we go back to where it all started, back to Woodsboro.
Yep, the latest instalment of Scream leans into Hollywood’s current passion for self-reflexive “requels.”
Which is fitting for a movie that made meta mainstream back in 1996. The question to be asked is, does the joke still work? Or the horror for that matter?
The Robs discuss this and much more, including the returning cast members from the original Scream movie, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, plus the new cast led by Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega and Mikey Madison. Rob D gets wistful remembering what it was like to see the original Scream upon release a generation ago. Rob W reminds us he was far too young to have seen it back then.
