Episode 126 of The Movie Robcast previews this year’s BFI London Film Festival.
Back in cinemas after a largely digital outing in 2020 for obvious reasons, the festival this year offers its typically vast range of movies (and TV series) from around the globe.
Robs Daniel & Wallis discuss their picks from the galas and other strands of the festival. There are big hitters such as the opening film The Harder They Fall, starring Idris Elba, and the closing film, The Tragedy of Macbeth, directed by Joel Coen and starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand. Elsewhere we hear about Edgar Wright’s One Night in Soho and Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
Rob D begins to fear that his selection of movies has a worryingly dark through-line, and his choices become something of a therapy session. Luckily, Rob W is on hand to lighten the picks with brighter fare.
The BFI London Film Festival runs from Wednesday 6th October to Sunday 17th October. Details of the films playing can be found at the official website: https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/lff/Online/default.asp
